In 1993 we designed a version of the popular Canyon whitewater buoyancy aid for the women's Himalayan expedition. Samantha Turner, Helen Rowlands, Kirsty Jessop, and Justine Crowe, from Edinburgh, and Debbie Hales and Carol Scott from Durham successfully made the first British descent of the Tamur. The Canyon S became a best seller for Palm to women and men alike.
From 2006 we were ready to launch an entire line of women's whitewater gear; the Rogue PFD, Element and Naiya jackets and Amaris pants. Year on year the proportion of women to men in paddlesport is growing. From whitewater extreme racing to solo sea kayak circumnavigations, women are in the limelight. Now, the line of women's gear totals twenty-one products.
Product development at Palm is all about making things better, in every variety of the sport, in every product and detail.
