Starting on Saturday the 28th May it's National Go canoeing week!
It's a week to celebrate padlding, by getting involved and getting out on the water. So whether you've been paddling your whole life, or have never sat in a canoe or kayak before, there are lots of activities and opportunities for you.
This year the target is log over 30,000 miles between everybody who takes part in the event!
Never been canoeing before? Know somebody who wants to give it a go?
Starter Sessions are an opportunity to learn all the basics you need to get out on the water yourself. These sessions are delivered by canoe clubs and centres - check individual sessions for specific details, including price, age limits and booking requirements.
Meet like-minded people, escape the daily grind on an adventure or simply spend time on the water with family and friends. An expert guide will take you to exploring your local waterways - you never know what awaits you just down the river.
Each tour is led by one of our specially trained Go Canoeing Tour Guides, who are passionate about sharing their love of canoeing and local knowledge. Your guide will also let you know the distance you have paddled during the tour, allowing you to register your miles on this website.
Challenge Paddles provide you with the opportunity to complete a one, three or six mile route in a handpicked, scenic location, in your own time and at your own pace. The challenges are suitable for all ages and abilities and it’s up to you to choose which distance you want to complete, depending on how much of a challenge you want to take on. Not all venues will be providing a six mile route but you can always do the three mile twice!
Everyone who takes part in a Challenge Paddle will receive a Go Canoeing medal for their efforts and the mileage completed can be registered to help reach the overall target.
As always with National Go Canoeing Week, you don’t have to go along to an organised activity to get involved. The aim is simply to get as many people as possible out on the water and enjoying canoeing during the event!
So whatever you're up to next week, be sure to get out on the water, and Join in the fun!
