Last weekend in Campertogno, Piemonte, Italy, at the picturesque il Gato e la Volpe campsite beside the Sesia river, the Valsesia River Festival brought together over 300 paddlers and 100 racers in this whitewater paradise.
After a month of paddling, coaching and guiding for the Gene 17 team, the snow still clung to Monte Rosa, then the thunderstorm struck and the rivers rose across the region. To keep the Alpin Sprint and Sweet Rumble races accessible and safe for everyone, they were once again moved downstream to the rapids through town. For race results visit valsesiariverfestival.com
Before prize giving and pizza, campers rallied for fun and games in the classic Palm Throwbag Olympics. The the hysterical final round was completed in style by Louise and Laurence to win the top prizes, a Palm whitewater PFD each.
See you all in July for the Sjoa River Festival where there’ll be more races and Palm Throwbag Olympics prizes to be won.
