In the second weedkend of August in Graz city took place freestyle competition on Mugl Wave and boater X on Mur River in city center. In Graz Rodeo took a part representatives of six countries – Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Netherlands and Austria. Me and Tomasz came to Graz a couple days before competition. Both of us really like this place. Mugl Wave is on of our favorite places to practice in free time. It is good for high flying and for combo moves ;) (More about this playspot here.)
Whole Saturday we were competing in freestyle event – preliminaries, man’s semifinal and finals. There were four categories – K1 Junior Men, K1 Women, K1 Men and Old bastards.
In the morning started prelims in all categories. Top 5 with the best socre of two runs went to women final and junor men final. In K1M top ten competitors advanced to semi final. In the early afternoon best ten paddlers of K1M were fighting to get into final.
In the evening finals started from K1JM where won Michał Sobieraj-Jakubiec from Poland with 450 points. I won in women final with 655 points. Second was Nina Csonkova with 555 points and third was Denise Rebnegger (AUT) with 280 points.
In K1M final won Peter Csonka (SVK) with 1355 points, second was Bartosz Czauderna also from Poland with 1245 and third was Tomasz Czaplicki with 1130 points.
After finals when it was already dark it was a time for Big Air contest. Normally in Big Air competitors are trying to make the highest move as possible. This Big Air was a little bit different and very fun :) Above the wave on the rope was hung waterproof box. In the first round it pretty was low but in the every next round was higher and higher. Kayaker should jump high and touch the box by his hand if he didn't do it he was out of the game. That was very funny when kayakers were doing big loops and trying to touch a box. I was also competing in this game and for me this kind of Big Air was the best I've ever tried.
In the Sunday morning in the city center on the Mur River took place boater X.
Four kayakers starts from ramp and two of the fastest paddlers who did properly race course go to the next round. Unfortunetly Tomasz forgot about one gate and he was disqualified. I finished bother cross on second place.
I'm very happy for my results in overall and the most in freestyle kayaking. I did my personal best score in ICF scoring. It was very nice to compete at Mugl Wave and we will back there for sure.
