Andrew Regan

Known for its rugged Atlantic coastline, wind, and warm hospitality, the west coast of Ireland is also home to fine whitewater. From this wild land comes the formidable talent of west coast hero Andrew Regan. A true whitewater all-rounder, Andrew is happy coaching newcomers down their first river, racing the Clare Glens, throwing huge freestyle moves, or exploring waterfalls in remote wilderness. So far his whitewater adventures range from the peat-brown rivers of Ireland through the European Alps and Norway, to must make warm weather stops in Uganda and Chile. Seasons spent on freestyle’s international training ground of the Ottawa river have also furnished Andrew with comprehensive freestyle skills, and a place on the Irish national squad. He's competed for his country in the 2013 freestyle world championships and 2014 European Championships in Slovakia. Andrew invests a huge amount of time in coaching and has worked with one of the best Kayak Schools in the world at Wet Planet in White Salmon, WA. He has also been a coach with First Descents an incredible organisations which gives young cancer fighters life-changing experiences in the outdoors. During time off from studying to be a teacher, Andrew also co-organises one of Ireland's biggest whitewater festivals, GalwayFest. With a mix of freestyle, whitewater racing, and general fun times, Andrew invites anybody and everybody to come along and share the craic.
